Invitation

PTAC Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada, along with its partners and sponsors, invites you to bring your voice to the table at the upcoming Unconventional Gas - The Way Forward workshop.

Now that the Unconventional Gas Technology Roadmap - Filling the Gap has been issued, there is a need to address the specific issues identified, and turn the report recommendations into action.

Workshop Objective: To better define those key technology and Research and Development (R&D)priorities that will contribute the most to future economic and sustainable development of the unconventional gas resources in Canada.

Target Resources: Mature conventional gas, shallow/tight gas, CBM/NGC, shale gas, natural gas hydrates, and all forms of Enhanced Gas Recovery.

Results will Focus on:

  • Economic - Production from low rate, geographically extensive and geologically challenging resources requires new ideas to reduce capital and operating costs to allow steady development without relying on high energy prices as the only driver.
  • Security of Supply - While the resource base of unconventional gas is immense, the ability to produce enough of this resource to supply North American needs into the future requires development of technology to allow high recoveries from more of the resource base.
  • Environmental/Social Responsibility - Unconventional gas resources are found in most regions of Canada and offshore, so their development must protect and respect the environmental and societal needs of a very large number of stakeholders. Developing new production methods with smaller footprints now will ensure that the industry can sustain and expand its social license to operate wherever unconventional gas is found.

Who Should Attend: Managers, engineers, geologists, and others who are interested in collaborative technology development and planning strategic RD&D efforts to support development of unconventional gas resources.
