With the financial assistance of AOSTRA and work-in-kind
by NCUT, Gibson Petroleum and Chevron (California), this $68,000 PRI operated project has
been launched following a PTAC Technology Information Session sponsored by Renaissance
Energy. The 23 participants in the VAPEX Engineering and Economics Phase 2 project have
access to the results. PRI is producing a large volume of VAPEX sample production in
laboratory physical models for the required refinery related experiments.
The VAPEX process produces oil of reduced viscosity due
to the precipitation of asphalt in the reservoir. The lower asphalt content increases the
value of the production, reduces refinery emissions due to lower requirement for hy-drogen
(CO2 is a by-product of H2 production) and debottle-necks refinery operations. |
