Wireless, Digital & Telecommunication Technology Forum

Planning Meeting for the Upstream Oil & Gas Industry

PTAC and Industry Canada invite you or a suitable representative from your organization to participate in the planning of a series of Wireless, Digital & Telecommunication Technology Forums for the Upstream Oil & Gas Industry as follows:

Date:     November 29, 2001
Time:    9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Location:    PTAC Boardroom, Suite 750, Hanover Place, 101 -6th Ave. SW, Calgary

The proposed purpose of this forum series is to educate industry participants on the innovative use of such technology and approaches to build innovation into their business processes.  We also hope to generate an industry "wish list" of practical solutions needed to solve their problems and improve bottom line financial performance.  The forums will feature case study presentations of innovative wireless, digital & telecommunication technology applicable to the oil & gas industry followed by ample time for questions and discussion of unmet needs.  The forums will be of potential interest to oil & gas executives, technical specialists & field personnel.

The focus of the first wireless, digital & telecommunications forum tentatively planned for February 13th, 2002 is “Oil & Gas Facility Construction and Operations”.  This could include Conventional and Heavy Oil, Natural Gas Production & Processing and Oilsands.  Subsequent forums are proposed for Acquisition/Divestiture/Exploration, Drilling/Completions, Exploitation/Reservoir Recovery/Geoscience, Environment/Health/Safety, Inactive Wells/Abandonment and Transportation/Marketing, provided there is sufficient technology supply and demand.

Your planning input on the following issues may be provided by either participating in the subject planning session in person or by teleconference, or by emailing your input to PTAC:
