TOGTAP

Request Technical Information

New technologies are unlocking tight oil and gas, shale gas and coal bed methane resources on an unprecedented pace and scale. Shale gas has dramatically altered the trajectory of natural gas production and price. These new technologies are now being applied to oil with a considerable potential for success. The scope of TOGTAP will include tight oil and gas, shale oil and gas, coal bed methane and cover environmental impact on water, land, air and greenhouse gases. The project will seek to answer key questions such as:

  • What are the challenges and the targets?
  • What improvements or brand new recovery technologies could offer significantly better performance, higher production rate and lower capital and operating costs than present day activities?
  • What are the environmental impact gaps? What new environmental mitigation and control technologies need to be demonstrated and commercialized?
  • What resources, framework and collaborative models are required to implement the Action Plan?

New technologies to be considered include new fracturing fluids and proppants, improved hydraulic fracturing methods for horizontal wells, real time sweet spot detection, produced water treatment, CO2 EOR, reservoir imaging tools, fracture modeling, and integrated reservoir characterization.
