Natural Resources Canada, Encana Corporation and PTAC Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada invite you to attend an information session on corrosion management in pipelines and pipes where the CANMET Materials Technology Laboratory of Natural Resources Canada will present the Rotating Cage Test Equipment and its complementary Corrosion Inhibitor Selection Software.

CANMET would like to inform the industry about these two products that will help pipeline and refinery managers improve the reliability of pipelines and pipes by predicting and controlling internal corrosion. CANMET is also seeking companies that are interested in commercializing these products.

Background
In a recent study, the Rotating Cage outperformed other methods in predicting both general and pitting corrosion that occurred in field operations. The Rotating Cage is suitable for systems with either high or low flow rates, sweet or sour, and is applicable to pipelines and to pipes in refineries. In addition, the methodology is inexpensive and relatively simple to carry out. The Corrosion Inhibitor Selection Software (CISS) is used to select test parameters for the Rotating Cage and to help interpret the results.

Benefits of Effective Corrosion Management

  • Reduce overall costs, particularly repair and maintenance
  • Reduce the number of incidents of corrosion failure
  • Optimize selection of inhibitors to control corrosion
  • Who Should Attend
Managers, professionals, and technical specialists who are responsible for managing integrity by controlling corrosion in pipelines and pipes as well as persons seeking a commercialization opportunity in corrosion management.

To obtain commercialization information, please contact Alan Bowles, Business Development Manager with the CANMET Materials Technology Laboratory of Natural Resources Canada by phone: (613) 995-8814, fax (613) 992-8735 or email: abowles@nrcan.gc.ca.
