Alberta Research Council (ARC) Inc., Paramount Resources and PTAC Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada invite you to attend an information session to introduce a proposal to initiate a Joint Industry Research Program (JIP): the Proposed Technology Development Program. The goal of the JIP will be to optimize natural gas recovery and increase the amount of waste gases/CO2 stored.
Background
Since 2001, ARC has been investigating enhanced gas recovery (EGR) via gas by gas displacement and via water abatement in gas wells. In the projects dealing with EGR from volumetric deep and shallow gas reservoirs(over the last two years), the soundness of the concept of gas-gas displacement for EGR was confirmed via laboratory testing, mathematical simulation and economic calculations for prototype gas reservoirs. ARC's Proposed Technology Development Program builds upon these projects and focuses on optimization of EGR operations. This program also involves an in-depth analysis of various enabling technologies/ surface facilities for optimized EGR operations.
Project Description
The proposed program will investigate EGR from mature gas pools. The focus will be to develop and optimize appropriate technology for recovery of some of the currently unrecoverable natural gas using various approaches, including a process based on displacement of natural gas by CO2, flue gases or other waste gases. This process also results in enhanced storage of carbon dioxide in gas reservoirs.
Who Should Attend
- Gas business unit leaders
- Reservoir engineers and managers
- CO2 sequestration entrepreneurs
- Development and gas exploitation engineers and managers
