The Three Eligibility Criteria for SR&ED
Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA), KPMG High
Technology Practice Group, PTAC and PSAC invite you to attend a Technical Working
Group session designed to provide background and information on the Federal Government's
Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) Program.
Date:
Wednesday, May 2, 2001
Time: 8:30 am- 11:00 am
Location: The National Film Board Theatre, Rm. 167, Harry Hays
Building,
220 - 4th Avenue SE, Calgary
Background
The SR&ED Program has been in place since 1985. It affords Canadian companies an
avenue to write off expenditures incurred on R&D carried out in Canada. In addition,
the Program provides tax credits at the rate of 20% - 35% of eligible expenditures
(depending on the size of the company). Small companies get refund cheques, while larger
companies accumulate credits. These credits can be carried forward for up to ten years,
and can be used to offset income taxes payable. Ample guidelines exist for claiming
SR&ED credits and CCRA will be willing to assist claimants in explaining the rules and
regulations. We encourage you to join us to learn more about the SR&ED Program, which
is considered to be the best among the OECD countries for promoting and leveraging
industrial R&D.
Benefits to Participants
This workshop will provide valuable information to oil and gas executives on how to use
the Federal Government's Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED)
Program to leverage expenditures on R&D carried out in Canada. This session is the
third in the series of bimonthly meetings of the newly formed CCRA-PSAC SR&ED
Technical Working Group of petroleum services companies that carry out R&D in Canada.
Participants from other associations within the oil and gas industry are also encouraged
to attend.
