Technical Evidence/Support for SR&ED Work Oil and Gas Industry’s SR&ED Technical Working Group Forum

Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA), KPMG High Technology Practice Group, PTAC and PSAC invite you to attend a Technical Working Group session designed to clarify the type of technical documentation companies need to maintain to support their claims for Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax credits.

Date:       Wednesday, September 19, 2001
Time:       8:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
Location: The National Film Board Theatre, Rm. 167, Harry Hays Building
                220 - 4th Avenue SE, Calgary

Background
The SR&ED Program affords Canadian companies an avenue to write off expenditures incurred on R&D carried out in Canada. In addition, the program provides tax credits at the rate of 20 to 35% of eligible expenditures, depending on the size of the company. Small companies receive refund cheques while larger companies accumulate credits, which can be carried forward for up to 10 years and used to offset income taxes payable. CCRA, in collaboration with PTAC, PSAC, and KPMG High Technology Practice Group, hosted previous technology sessions dealing with the modalities of the SR&ED program, the definition of an SR&ED project, and the eligibility criteria for SR&ED. Future sessions will address other important aspects of the SR&ED Program.

Benefits to Participants
This workshop offers valuable information to upstream and downstream oil and gas executives as well as R&D and other service providers on what and how to document SR&ED work. Participants will hear from experts from CCRA and learn best practices for documenting SR&ED from leading industry members.
