Invitation

Cybera Inc., PTAC Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada, and co-sponsors Nexen Inc. and Devon Canada Corporation invite you to join us for a complimentary session on Oil and Gas 2.0 - Using Cyberinfrastructure to Solve Business and Technology Challenges. This is an opportunity to learn about cyberinfrastructure as well as chart a course for information and communications technology (ICT) innovation in the oil and gas sector. Partners are sought to develop and test-drive cyberinfrastructure applications within Alberta oil and gas operations.

BACKGROUND

Cyberinfrastructure is a term used to describe integrated, distributed and service-oriented ICT infrastructure that supports advanced, internationally competitive research and business innovation. Discover the main business drivers for using grid computing and cyberinfrastructure tools to maximize operations in areas such as seismic processing, reservoir modeling, and IT optimization. Oil and Gas 2.0 will identify current technology barriers and infrastructure challenges within the industry, as well as outline cyberinfrastructure's capabilities and Cybera/PTAC pilot project opportunities.

Cybera, an Alberta-based not-for-profit organization, is supporting cyberinfrastructure research and development and business implementation. Cybera provides access to the latest technology and expertise to help Alberta companies implement cyberinfrastructure to improve their bottom line and create new ways of doing business. PTAC represents more than 200 oil and gas companies in Canada and facilitates joint non-competitive projects for its members. Cybera and PTAC are collaborating to support a pilot project initiative that will engage ICT suppliers, oil and gas service suppliers, and oil and gas producers to develop, demonstrate and deploy cyberinfrastructure solutions within the industry.
