
The Alberta Upstream Petroleum Research Fund (AUPRF) is a unique collaboration between the Government of Alberta, the Alberta Energy Regulator, and industry focused on pursuing practical, science-based research projects to address knowledge gaps in the understanding and management of high-priority environmental and social matters related to oil and gas exploration and development in Alberta. Their work assists in the development of smart policies, regulations, and best practices for the sustainable development of oil and gas resources in Alberta.
Highlights of the AUPRF Program to date include:
• Conducting 474 environmental research projects totaling $180M.
• Producers have provided $31.4M, creating financial leveraging of 6:1.
• Saving industry $93M/year in operating costs.
