Invitation
This event is at capacity.
Please join the PTAC Remediation Reclamation Research Committee (RRRC) May 2, 2019 at the Soil and Groundwater Forum as we host presentations from current research projects.
Projects featured not only have demonstrated improved environmental performance, deliver significant cost reductions but also support time line reductions to moving sites to closures which is important to industry, regulators and stakeholders including the public.
Learn how these practical applications benefit your organization — realizing significant cost savings while reducing environmental footprints.
Background
The PTAC Remediation Reclamation Research Committee (RRRC) is a collaborative environmental research program that explores opportunities for new or improved scientifically defensible regulations, and develops strategic tools to manage environmental liability.
The RRRC has provided a central gathering place for hundreds of research and technology providers, oil and gas producers, academia, government organizations, regulators, and investors to collaborate and advance new innovations, many of which are supported through the Alberta Upstream Petroleum Research Fund (AUPRF). This unique collaborative approach allows consortium to work together to identify challenges, leverage funding and technical expertise, and support applied research and technology development activities in the hydrocarbon energy industry.
The PTAC RRRC evaluated that four recently completed projects resulted in a realized cost savings estimated between $25M – $45M annually due to revised regulatory guidelines and/or policy changes. Program results have proven against the conventional wisdom of economics that there is a trade-off between social license and fiscal performance.
Business can indeed profit while reducing environmental liability through collaborative solutions, oriented toward research and innovation that drive smart policies and regulations, well improving environmental performance and cost savings in an efficient, effective, and predictable manner.
