    Join ‘UV-DOX EnviroTek’ on October 3rd as they take a closer look at ‘Redefining Pollution Control’ based on their recent development of an innovative multi-purpose ‘UV-DOX Reactor’ for mitigation of chemical and germicidal air contamination.

    Background:
    Annual premature human deaths related to air pollution has been estimated at ‘7,700 in Canada’, ‘200,000 in the USA’ and a staggering ‘7 million globally’ – with fugitive chemical emissions being common instigators of health and safety issues.

    In N. America, about 500k fuelling station tanks emit an estimated 450 million litres/year of carcinogenic Benzene and, in addition, 4 million registered storage tanks, as well as untold Dehydration Units and pneumatic instruments, continuously vent uncontrolled toxic VOC’s.  Canadian and USA statistics indicate total toxic CO2e GHG emissions of about 250MMT and 3BMT, respectively. Large-scale polluters are usually well regulated/monitored.  Unfortunately, small-scale fugitive chemical emissions are presently considered un-economical to deal with even though their total combined ‘contamination’ volume is significant and deemed environmentally detrimental to humans, animals and vegetation.

    It is time to change the conceptual ‘status-quo’ that individual small amounts of pollutants are insignificant and can easily be vented to the atmosphere in hopes dilution will solve their contamination effect.

    Technology Description:
    The ‘UV-DOX Reactor’ consists of an affordable, light-weight, and compact pollution control device intended to mitigate harmful air contamination at emission sources, within confined work spaces and at living accommodations, such as field camps.  Supplementary ‘value-added’ benefits to diminishing fugitive emissions entail simple maintenance, reduced operating cost, worker safety and positive public relation.

    UVC light has a proven history of pungent air and germicidal reduction.  However, the improved ‘UV-DOX Reactor’ design is also capable of breaking chemical bonds of various VOC’s by combining UVC light with hydroxyl radical generating Titanium Dioxide internal coating and multi-baffle system.  Compared to a single lamp straight flow-through configuration, superior destruction efficiency of contaminated fluid is achieved by about 8x longer retention time and 6x larger photo-catalytic coating area, as well as consistent close proximity to UVC lamp and photo-catalytic coating.

    Testing of the ‘UV-DOX Reactor’ (by AGAT Labs) achieved 99.9% destruction of lethal Sulfur Dioxide, 99.5% toxic Ammonia, 98.5% deadly Hydrogen Sulfide, 97.9% carcinogenic Benzene and 96.4% dangerous Nitrogen Oxides.
