Banff, Canada / October 19, 2018 / Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada – PTAC is honoured to have received the Environmental Services Association of Alberta (ESAA) Environmental Innovation award on October 11, 2018 at the Remediation Technologies Symposium at the Banff Springs hotel in Banff, Alberta.
This award recognizes the tireless teamwork, innovation, and commitment of the Remediation and Reclamation Committee members of the Alberta Upstream Petroleum Research Fund Program (AUPRF).
Through the AUPRF program, PTAC has launched over 400 environmental projects in the areas of remediation and reclamation, air quality, water, biodiversity, and well abandonment.
This award demonstrates that there does not need to be a trade-off between financial and environmental performance – using collaborative innovation, industry can meet both goals simultaneously.
“Four R&R AUPRF projects alone have reduced the annual environmental industry cost equivalent to more or less what industry has contributed to over 400 AUPRF projects. This is an incredible testament to the power of the collaborative model used here at PTAC.”
~ Soheil Asgarpour, President, Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada
These four projects have resulted in savings of approximately $20 – $40 million dollars annually. To date, $23 million, contributed by industry, has been allocated to AUPRF projects.
